CRANAEA, æ, Gr. Κραναῖα, ας, ein Beynamen der Minerva, unter welchem sie einen besondern Tempel bey Elatea, in Phocis, auf einem Hügel hatte, worinnen allemal ein Priester dienete, dernoch nicht mannbar war. Er mußte 5 Jahr aushalten und mittlerweile stets steh bey solcher Göttinn befinden. Die Statue derselben hatten des Polykles Söhne gemacht, und war sie gebildet, als ob sie in die Schlacht gehen wollte. Pausan. Phoc. c. 34. p. 679.
