Dindyméne

DINDYMÉNE, es, Gr. Δινδυμήνη, ης, ein Beynamen der Cybele, welchen sie von dem Berge Dindymon hat. Strabo lib. XII. p. 575. Es lag solcher, nach einigen, in Phrygien, bey der Stadt Pessinunte, Idem ibid. nach andern aber in Troas. Stephanus Byz. in Δίνδυμα. Er war insonderheit berühmt, weil der Cybele Gottesdienst zu Nachtzeit auf demselben pflegte begangen zu werden. Es befand sich aber auch eben dergleichen Berg mit einem berühmten Tempel der Cybele in Mysien, bey der Stadt Cyzikum. Schol. Apollon. ad lib. I. v. 985. Da auch dieser Göttinn Mutter Dindyma geheißen haben soll, Diod. Sic. lib. III. c. 58. p. 134. so steht so gewiß eben nicht zu sagen, woher sie eigentlich solchen Beynamen erhalten habe.
