NECESSĬTAS, atis, Gr. Ἀνάγκη, ης, Nothwendigkeit, war eine besondere Göttinn der Griechen, welche daher auch ihren Tempel mit der Gewaltthätigkeit zu Korinth hatte, in den aber niemand gehen durfte. Pausan. Corinth. c. 4. p. 93. Ihre Macht war dabey, nach der alten Meynung, so groß, daß sie auch selbst den Göttern befehlen konnte, Philisc. ap. Spanhem. ad Callim Hymn. in Delum v. 122. von diesen aber nicht konnte gezwungen werden. Plato & al. ap. eumd. l. c. Kluge Leute verstunden unter ihr nichts anders, als den Jupiter selbst. Eurip. & al. ap. eumd. l. c.
