ALCINOE, es, eines Korinthers, Polybus, Tochter und des Amphilochus Dryantis Frau, hatte eine geschickte Weberinn, Namens Nikandra, um einen gewissen Lohn zu sich genommen, daß sie ihr etwas weben sollte. Nachdem sie nun solche ein Jahr lang in ihrem Hause gehabt und die Arbeit fertig; war, so wollte sie solcher den versprochenen Lohn nicht ganz geben, sondern stieß sie zum Hause hinaus. Nikandra flehete darauf Minerven an, sie deswegen zu rächen, und ihr Gebeth wurde erhöret. Alcinoe wurde durch Veranstaltung dieser Göttinn in einen jungen Samier, Xanthus, der bey ihr im Hause wohnete, so sterblich verliebt, daß sie ihren Mann und ihre kleinen Kinder verließ und mit ihm zu Schiffe gieng. Unterwegens aber erkannte sie die ganze Schändlichkeit ihrer Missethat, und beklagete bald ihren jungen Mann, bald ihre kleinen Kinder. Ob ihr nun gleich Xanthus sehr zuredete und versprach, sie zur Frau zu nehmen, so ließ sie sich doch nicht besänftigen, sondern stürzete sich in das Meer. Parthenii Erotica, cap. 27.
