OENŎË, es, Gr. Ὀινόη, ης, eine Jungfer bey den Pygmäen, die zwar schön genug war, allein weder die Juno, noch Diana etwas achtete. Sie heurathete indessen den Nikodamas, und gebar ihm den Mopsus, worüber sich denn alle Pygmäen lustig machten. Weil sie aber auch hierbey der Juno ihre Ehre nicht erwies, so verwandelte diese sie in einen Kranich, und erweckete zwischen ihr und den Pygmäen eine unversöhnliche Feindschaft. Sie scheucheten sie daher, als sie aus Liebe zu dem Mopsus immer um den Nikodamas herum flog, allezeit wieder von ihm hinweg. Bœus ap. Ant. Liberal. c. 16.
