XANTHE, es, Gr. Ξάνθη, ης, ( Tab. III.) des Oceans und der Tethys Tochter. Hesiod. Theog. v. 356. Eigentlich ist es ein Fluß, der einen gelben Sand, oder doch dergleichen Wasser führet, und also den Namen von Ξανθὸς, gelb, hat.
