ARGÝRA, æ, Gr. Ἀργυρὰ, ας, eine Nymphe, welche sich in den Selemnus, einen schönen Knaben, verliebete, und ihre Liebeshändel mit ihm trieb. Da diesem aber die schöne Gestalt vergieng, so kam die Nymphe nicht mehr zu ihm. Weil er ihrer nun gar nicht vergessen konnte, so vergieng er endlich, und wurde von der Venus vollends in einen Fluß seines Namens verwandelt, dessen Wasser denn die Kraft gehabt haben soll, daß, wenn jemand sich darinnen gebadet, er aller seiner Liebe vergessen. Paus. Ach. c. 23.
